When in doubt!
We have put together a brief summary of the Direct Primary Care (DPC) model that outlines the benefits, risks, and whether it's right for you. If you would like more information, please call us at (404) 446-9979 or email us at hello@ourfamilydoc.us
INSURANCE & COVERAGE
-
Our Family Doc does not replace your health insurance. We strongly recommend you maintain your coverage in order to cover larger medical expenses such as unforeseen hospitalizations, surgeries, ER visits, imaging as well as specialty services for complex conditions that require higher level of care. Plans that work best with our model include catastrophic plans, high deductible plans and PPOs.
-
Our Family Doc DPC doesn't bill or use health insurance. We are focused on providing high-quality health care services, and on making sure we meet the needs of each individual patient.
-
In truth, there is no telling when you may find that you will not be healthy. The option of consulting a doctor who has an in-depth understanding of your medical history is therefore invaluable. In addition to that, I am also here to be proactive and work with you to lead a healthy lifestyle! Every one of us has ways we can improve our health. Our model is meant to foster long-term health goals and a trusting relationship with your doctor.
-
We will have our Medicare enrolled patients on a waiting list and will update you soon once we are able to provide care.

A concierge medicine practice still bills your insurance for each visit, and charges an additional fee to have access to the concierge doctor as well. The fees typically range from several hundred dollars up to several thousand dollars per year, which can be reflected in their high monthly fees (typically $200-300/month). DPC doctors provide concierge level care but at a much lower cost, which on average is the same as your monthly cell phone bill.
MEMBERSHIP
-
Annual physicals, routine appointments, sick visits, urgent visits, well woman exams, well child exams, sports/school physicals, and direct access to your physician via telephone, email, and virtual videoconferencing are included in your membership fee
-
Direct primary care is not a substitute for health insurance. Primary care can handle 80-90% of your healthcare needs, but we strongly urge everyone to have some type of health insurance to cover unexpected healthcare needs, such as :
Urgent care center visits
Emergency room visits
Hospitalizations
Surgeries
Specialty care
Expensive medications/testing

Great question! By choosing a DPC practice, patients are able to save thousands of dollars in office visits, medications, labs, and imaging, long before their deductible is reached. In addition to receiving personal care with a physician who knows them, they will be able to schedule quick appointments either the same day or next day, avoiding urgent care clinics or emergency rooms for non life-threatening conditions. Patients with health insurance typically spend thousands of dollars just for their health plan (on average 5K dollars per year), on top of that meeting out of pocket expenses until they reach their deductible in order for their health insurance to cover their care at 80-100%, and patients also need to pay co-pays on top of this! As a patient of a Direct Primary Care clinic, you've likely paid for an annual DPC membership before you have ever met your deductible
-
A one-time registration fee of $150 will be charged for joining.
-
You will never have to pay an office visit fee as a member! In the event that additional services were performed during the visit, such as labs or procedures, extra charges might apply. A detailed explanation of any additional charges will be disclosed in advance to patients prior to receiving services.
-
The cancellation of your membership can be carried out at any time by informing us 30 days in advance. Considering this is a relationship-based care, we can only accept a certain number of patients at a time to ensure quality care is given to all of her patients. In the event that you wish to re-enroll, a $250 re-enrollment fee will apply.

No.
We do not prescribe controlled substances for long-term use. To receive controlled substances, you should consult another physician, preferably a physician who specializes in pain management or a psychiatrist. Our clinic does not carry pain medications or controlled substances.
-
Our office carries generic non-controlled medications. Since we buy generic medications at cost, we can offer them to our patients at cost as well. Having this capability saves our patients hundreds to thousands of dollars each year.
